As I embark on my career as a teacher, I enter this field knowing that I believe in the power of education and the positive, every-lasting impact it has on individuals. From the small, to the big wins teachers experience, to watching the achievements and growth of students, I see ever-lasting motivation as a teacher.

As a teacher, I have the responsibility, as well as, the dedication and desire to assist my students’ growth and development by establishing an inclusive environment that each student is both proud and committed to being a part of.  I will continuously work to meet the individual needs of each student, being a teacher who is committed to a universal design for learners approach, with the goal that each student is positively progressing and feeling a sense of accomplishment and success throughout the process.

I will strive to create a space where inclusivity, diversity, mental health, and reconciliation are all key areas that students feel welcome and respected. An environment that is a safe space, where all voices, opinions and ideas are heard and appreciated. As well as a space that students take comfort in knowing their resources and that the professionals around them are there to support them in any way they may need.

I understand the historical and ongoing injustices Indigenous peoples have both faced and are continuously facing. As not only a teacher, but as an individual, I am dedicated to reconciliation and promoting a deeper understanding of the occurrences and involvements of all peoples.

To conclude, my philosophy of education is embedded in the belief that feeling valued, successful and included should be consistent throughout the entirety of each students learning process. While the years spent in education for students are important for progressing through the achievements, I take pride in knowing that I will possess a compassionate and kind-hearted environment where growth, achievements and development are seen within each student. I will foster an environment wherein students’ know their importance, understand that they’re heard and appreciated and not only feel positive about themselves but as well take ownership in compassion and empathy towards others.
