The Professional Standards for BC Educators is both a guide and a resource, that is meant to both assist educators while strengthening their work. This guide highlights the details and the key knowledge, expertise, understanding, attitudes’, and worth of the work of an educator.
The guide highlights that educators care for and value the success of the student, that educators take pride in professionalism in all areas, they use knowledge for the growth of all students and themselves as a teacher, they value communities as a whole (families, friends, acquaintances etc.) and the support they demonstrate for students, they create a superior learning environment, they demonstrate a great understanding in all that they teach, they give back to the teaching profession, and they have great respect for, as well as, value the history and past of First Nations, Inuit and Metis in Canada.
